Projects Managed

Kansas State Library Enhanced Library Meeting Room (ELMeR) Project

By working closely with 13 libraries serving vastly different service populations, multiple state agencies, and regional library systems, I coordinated a large-scale technology and policy training program to correct an oversight in the original project implementation that brought videoteleconferencing equipment to libraries statewide. To ensure sustainability and continued conversation and cooperation between the libraries involved, I created a project blog and listserv through which they could share ideas and access vital information.

Utah State Library Website in a Box Project

In coordination with the USL, I designed and implemented an emerging-tech driven solution to a troubling problem. Many of their libraries faced a drastic cut in funding because they failed to meet minimum web-presence standards set by the state. By implementing WordPress as a content management system for each participating library, I was able to empower librarians with no web design skills to take control of their content and maintain current and modern websites.

Reimagining Library Service to Distance Learners at the Houston Community Colleges

As HCC’s distance learning population expanded, the process in place to provide instructional services to faculty and students alike crumbled under the weight of expanding demand. By building consensus among key stakeholders, I was able to lead the libraries’ Distance Learning Services Committee through a complete revamping of how we reached this critical population. Further, by working with various faculty centers on campus to facilitate faculty development opportunities, I empowered distance faculty to capitalize on library services for their online classes in ways previously impossible.

Redesign of Houston Community Colleges Library Website

As lead designer for the HCC Library Web Committee, I balanced several competing interests and egos (departmental and personal) to develop a comprehensive, modern, standards compliant website to more effectively meet faculty and student needs. The process involved countless meetings, phone calls, usability tests, and more. While the result wasn’t perfect (design by committee being what it is), it was good.
